Meetings

Every year we organise a full programme of outings to interesting sites in Wiltshire or neighbouring counties, where the leader and members share their knowledge of plants and their habitats. Please car share if possible to all of our meetings.

We regret that we are unable to accommodate dogs on our field meetings.

Priddy Mineries, Priddy, Mendip Hills

Leader: Karen Andrews

Grab your passport for a visit across the Wiltshire border into Somerset for acidic habitats high on the Mendip Hills. Walking is easy to moderate, but the ‘gruffy' ground due to centuries-old lead mining can be uneven. Highlights of the calaminarian grassland include: Spring Sandwort, Alpine Penny-cress, Sea Campion and Moonwort. There are also interesting mire, heath and limestone species as well as abundant ferns on walls and in Stockhill Woods.

Meet in Forestry England’s Stockhill Woods free car park off Old Bristol Road, Priddy, Somerset.
